Hosted by the World Farmers' Organisation in collaboration with the Kenya National Farmers' Federation (KENAFF), the Annual Meeting brought together farmers' organizations, agricultural leaders, policymakers, development partners, and private sector representatives from around the world to discuss the future of sustainable agriculture and rural development.

The theme of this year's meeting, "Future Fields: Investing in Farmers' Organisations and Empowering Communities for Sustainable Agriculture," emphasized the critical role of farmers and their organizations in driving agricultural transformation, strengthening rural livelihoods, and building resilient food systems.

The opening ceremony featured distinguished speakers from national governments, international organizations, and global agricultural institutions, including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya, virtual representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Trade Organization (WTO), CGIAR, AGRA, and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).

During the first day of the Annual Meeting, participants engaged in high-level discussions on key issues affecting the agricultural sector. Sessions focused on the sustainable management of natural resources, particularly the strategic role of water in climate resilience and agricultural productivity, as well as strengthening the leadership and institutional capacity of Farmers' Organisations.

Special attention was given to empowering youth and women, promoting social security for farming communities, ensuring fair and sustainable land use, and strengthening farmers' participation in global food systems.

The four-day event is expected to generate valuable insights and strategic partnerships that will contribute to the advancement of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural systems worldwide.
