A significant meeting was held between the Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation (NACCFL) and the prestigious Korean educational institution, Far East University. The meeting focused on an in-depth discussion regarding the potential for transforming livelihoods through agriculture in the Dolakha district.
Representing Far East University were Professor Dr. Peter Kim, Prof. Jihyuk Joo, and Prof. Hyewon Cho. On behalf of the federation, participants included Chairperson Khem Bahadur Pathak, Acting General Manager Meena Pokhrel, and Senior Manager Deepakar Rupakheti .
Chairperson Pathak shared insights from a recently completed orientation program targeting cooperatives in Dolakha district. He informed that all cooperative stakeholders have warmly welcomed the potential partnership with Far East University. Emphasizing the district's agricultural development prospects, he highlighted that agriculture could become the foundational pillar for transforming rural livelihoods.
Prof. Dr. Peter Kim highlighted the importance of Dolakha as a model district, sharing his vision that successful practices could be replicated in other regions. He affirmed the university’s full commitment to advancing the program in an organized and impactful manner.
Meanwhile, Acting General Manager Mina Pokhrel informed that a basic survey had already begun in coordination with Far East University. She added that consultative meetings involving potential government partners would be organized in the coming days, and the suggestions from those discussions would be incorporated into the program's proposal.
Prof. Jihyuk Joo and Prof. Hyewon Cho, who arrived in Nepal for this project, are scheduled to stay for a week. During their stay, they will conduct direct consultations and observation visits in four local municipalities of Dolakha district.
